DIFN actively uses volunteers in our work in Nigeria. As well as being funded by Department for International Development, VSO, UK and Christian Aid, UK to run several of our volunteer programmes, we also run self funded volunteering placements throughout the year, especially to UK based university students and new graduates seeking some experience in international development.
Our Young Adult Volunteer Scheme is aimed at young adults between the ages of 18 to 25 who are keen for affordable and meaningful international development placements in Lagos, Nigeria.
Priority areas are in Vocational Skills Training, Early Years Education and Children/Youth Work with the placement duration starting from 3 weeks.
The Diaspora Volunteering Scheme is aimed primarily at mature UK based Nigerian professionals and other mature professionals interested in Nigeria.
Focusing on the areas such as Teaching, Early Years Education, Social Work, Community / Youth Work, Counselling and Vocational Skills Training, the duration of volunteer placements are for a minimum of 3 weeks.
At the present time our placements are mainly with our partners in Lagos State and neighbouring South Western states of Nigeria with group or individual placements available all year round.
